PT Bakrie Sumatera Plantations tbk develops the local economy through nonoperational activities including the mentoring of cooperative unions and the development of small-tomedium scale enterprises (SMEs); as well as through activities associated with the company’s core businesses, including core-plasma farmer partnership program, training of plasma and non-plasma oil palm farmers, provision of rubber seeds, free supply of empty bunches, plantation-related technical trainings, as well as comparative study program on palm seeds production.
In the efforts to enhance the economy of the communities in the operational sites, all Business Units of Our Company also provides opportunities for the locals to work as the majority manpower.
SMEs Development
Until the year 2021, Our Company has developed 23 public cooperative unions, including eight employee cooperative unions, considering that Your Company employees are part of the CSR program stakeholders, and along with their families have equal opportunities to be the target of the empowerment activities.
Core-Plasma Partnership Program
The Core-Plasma scheme is a partnership program involving core-plasma farmers; providing capital loans, training of professional plantation procedures complying to the corporate standards, as well as the purchase of the estates’ yields at market prices. Your Company develops 2 forms of plasma partnership scheme, which are the Perkebunan Inti Rakyat Transmigrasi (PIR-Trans) scheme for transmigrants and the Kredit Koperasi Primer Anggota (KKPA) scheme for local settlers; both are associated in cooperative unions to ensure the effectiveness of the development programs.
The development of plasma farmers groups in the Sumbar Business Unit has brought the Suka Maju farmers group to become a well respected farmers group as a role model for palm farmers in the areas close to Our Company operational site; and is expected to develop a farming school specializing in oil palm in the future as a form of awareness on regional advancement.
In 2021, Our Company through the Lampung (HIM) Business Unit conducted training and provided rubber tree seeds for rubber farmers groups. Through the Jambi 1 (AGW and AMM) Business Unit, Our Company also supported the SMEs of the local community by providing aid in the forms of red ginger powder processing equipment, raw ingredients for the processing of tempe, tofu and pecel sauce, fish seeds, plants and fruit trees seeds, organic fertilizers, as well as the provision of Robin machinery.
