As part of Bakrie Sumatera Plantations commitment to the fostering of occupational health, safety and security (OHS) in work environment, all Business Units in Bakrie Sumatera Plantations including the corporate unit, have completed the OHSAS 18001:2007 certification process conducted by TUV International Indonesia.
The Regulation of the Manpower Minister No. 05/MEN/1966 is the foundation for the implementation of management systems related to the efforts to control health and safety risks and the efforts to improve performance. Bakrie Sumatera Plantations has showed its consistency in the implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) since the certificate was obtained for the first time in 2008.
Bakrie Sumatera Plantations sets all OHS policies with the aim to meet the zero accident standards. The OHS management is performed under the provisions of the manpower and OHS regulation of the Indonesian Manpower and Transmigration.
OHSMS/SMK3 is a form of safeguarding of the sources of production, production processes, production equipment and occupational environment. The focus of OHSMS/SMK3 in the short term is the achievement of zero accident rate. In 2009, Bakrie Sumatera Plantations received the Zero Accident Award for the first time, given by the Indonesian Manpower and Transmigration Minister through the palm oil mill of the Sumut 1 Business Area.

Certification

As part of the commitment to the fostering of occupational health, safety and security, as well as to avoid the potential work accidents which might lead to economic and non-economic losses, Bakrie Sumatera Plantations has complied with the International Standards for OHSMS, the OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) 18001:2007 certification, conducted by TUV International Indonesia.
The implementation of OHSAS began with the Sumut 1 Business Unit in November 2007. In addition to Sumut 1, Sumbar and Jambi Business Units which have already received the OHSAS Certificates, the certification has also been received by Sumsel 1, HIM, AGW/AMM, EMAL, SNP, GLP, JOP, Air Muring and Corporate Jakarta. The list of validity of the Certificates is presented on page 15 of this 2015 Annual Report.
The implementation of OHSAS in Bakrie Sumatera Plantations has among others covered awareness training, formulation of standard operating procedures, OHS patrol, safety induction for visitors of sites of operations, safety briefing for workers, emergency response simulation, hazard identification, risk assessment and control, as well as internal and external audit

Awards

The implementation of HR development programs in Bakrie Sumatera Plantations in 2015 have been acknowledged by the national-level HR Excellence Awards 2016 in the People Development category awarded by LM FEUI in cooperation with SWA Magazine and PMSM. Through the project which facilitated HR practitioners in benchmarking their related activities and policies, Your Company was able to excel over 47 other companies.
